I would like to print two or more consecutive figures to the same PDF document.

It is not possible to print two consecutive figures to the same PDF document using the APPEND option with the PRINT command.
As a workaround, you can print multiple figures to a single PostScript (PS) file with the -append option and then convert the final document to PDF using a PS-to-PDF utility. For more information on how to use the -append option, consult the documentation for the PRINT command, which is available at the following location:
The above workaround may lead to loss in sharpness of the image exported.
Another workaround is to use the “export_fig” function available on MATLAB File Exchange with “-append” option.
Example usage of “export_fig”:
>> export_fig output.pdf –append –r300

yes it is, for PDF file format starting 2021b, and GIF format in 2022a.
What version of MATLAB are you running?
