This article only applies to R2014a and later. For instructions on downloading R2013b and earlier, see the following article:
To download the MathWorks Installer:
  1. Go to your MathWorks account homepage: MathWorks Account
  2. Locate the license you would like to download products for in the list. (Click "View additional Licenses or Trials" if you don't see it.)
  3. Click the downwards-pointing blue arrow on the same row as the license in question.
  4. Click the blue button labeled 'Download for <OS/Platform>" to download the MathWorks Installer for latest release of MATLAB you have access to or select an older license in the menu on the left. NOTE: The default operating system shown is derived from the machine that you are accessing the Downloads page on. To download the MathWorks Installer for another operating system than the one listed, select the down arrow to the right of the blue button.
  5. If prompted by your browser to Run or Save the installer choose to save.
  6. Locate the installer in a file browser. It should be located in the default download location, unless you specified another location.
  7. Launch the Installer:
  • Windows: Double click the matlab_R20XXx_win(64/32).exe to launch the installer. The Windows Self-Extractor will run, and then the installer will launch.
  • Mac: Double-click the matlab_R20XXx_maci64.zip. This will extract the files and automatically make another folder called matlab_R20XXx_maci64. Inside this folder, double-click InstallForMacOSX to launch the installer.
  • Linux: Unzip the matlabR20XXxglnxa64.zip file. From the extracted contents, run the install script.
For full instructions on installing MATLAB using the MathWorks Installer, please refer to the following article:
If you intend to install MATLAB on a machine different from the one you are downloading the installer on, see the following article:
Please note that only users who have been granted permission to download by their license administrator can use the installer to download MATLAB and associated products.
If you do not have download permissions, contact your license administrator for assistance.

Mathworks has come to the party and offered to send me a DVD to instal the product! They certainly have quick customer service.
The major problem with installing over the web is my Department's web proxy which doesn't work well with the Matlab Installer program when that program needs to access the web to download the product. As of R2014a we can no longer download the product separately but have to use the Installer program to do it. My Matlab licence administrator could get around this, download it for me and send me the files somehow but I jib at using two people's valuable time for this.

I downloaded the matlab installer files (matlab_R2015b_glnxa64.zip in my case) , edited the installer_input.txt file to add my license file and key, and after
./install -mode silent -inputFile installer_input.txt
still get:
Using a File Installation Key requires you run the installer from a MATLAB DVD or from a directory which contains files previously downloaded via the installer.
Is there any way to actually do a silent install other than downloading the entire 7Gb iso file (assuming that that may actually work..

I bought today Matlab and my nightmare has started. So confusing to download that I do not know whether I will receive DVD for download or I need to download . I have used CAD programs but such a problem never incurred. I think that Matlab should provide better serwice and now it is too late for me to cancel my purchase order as they took swiftly monies from my credit card.

That is correct. There are no free MATLAB versions. You will need to obtain a license from somewhere, either by purchasing it or by having it provided to you by an organization for work or education purposes.

Recently, I have downloaded MathLab, but was not able to install it because there was a file/folder that was not in place, specifically the \downloads\_temp_matlab_R2016b_win64\sys\java\jre\win64/jre/bin/server/jvm.dll file
Is there any way to continue with installing or am I just out of luck?

whats should i do if i don't have a constant flow of network to dowmload the files as when my networks get cut and the the product installer gets close , i have to do the entire process again. is there any way to resume it from where it got interupted.

I suggest that you start with the "download only" process, which is an option in the installer.
The installer changed as of R2020a and now you cannot get at that until the "Advanced Options" after you have authenticated your account; before R2020a it used to be one of the very first things and more obvious to select "Download Only"
Internally as MATLAB does the downloading, it downloads one or more "packages" for every product. One of the packages is for files that are related to your particular operating system; one of the packages is for executable files used by all operating systems; a third package might be for examples and documentation; there could be others.
The installer is able to track which of these packages is downloaded already, so if a download gets interrupted, you can go back into the installer, unselect the items marked as already downloaded, and keep going.
This does not help if you are not able to get an entire package through at one time, though. I am not presently aware of any way to have the installer resume at the package file level.
Once you have enough downloaded to start the installation, you should use your file manager to move to the directory that the files were downloaded into, and execute the install or startup executable that shows up there. Although the name might be the same as the name of the original installer, this is a second installer program that is able to install from disk.

The last release of MATLAB supported on 32-bit Windows was release R2015b as stated in the system requirements.

Hello,
I have downloaded the default package on Saturday. My license is provided by my University. I want to ask where can I find some of these tools:
  • MATLAB Grader
  • Online Training Suite
  • RoadRunner
  • MATLAB Production Server
  • MATLAB Parallel Server
Do I need a different license? Does my license been activated after download and install the installer or do I need to run the activation file later?

The Financial Instruments Toolbox and Financial Toolbox and Econometrics Toolbox have only changed a small bit over the last few years, and continue to be available, including in R2021b (just released.)
The Trading toolbox was merged into the Datafeed Toolbox a couple of releases ago; https://www.mathworks.com/products/new_products/r2021a-transition.html
