FANUC LR Mate 200 iD robot communication with MATLAB

35 views (last 30 days)
Hi all,
I would like to communicate FANUC LR mate 200 iD & R30ib controller with MATLAB. My requirement is to send the message from the Matlab program, i.e the coordinates to the Fanuc robot and the robot has to move to the new location accordingly.
Further, I would like to to read the current joint values of the robot.
Please help me and thank you so much.

Hi Nagarajan,
Have you set up a MATLAB model to control Fanuc LR Mate 200 iD yet? I working on the same robot using MATLAB and ROS, and would like to know some details. Thanks!

Not yet. In case if you have established connection between robot and matlab, assist us in the process

Hi Nagarajan,
There's no direct connectivity in MATLAB to this robot, but there are 2 potential avenues for you:
  1. You can use the ROS Industrial driver for Fanuc robots to connect to the robot; it looks like the LR Mate 200iD is supported. Once the robot is exposed through ROS, you can use ROS Toolbox to send and receive data.
  2. If you have a license for RoboDK, you can use that to connect to the Fanuc robot. RoboDK has an official MATLAB API that allows you to access some robot capabilities.
