Android 2.4 and Android 4.4 are not even supported by Google and have many security vulnerabilities that aren't even patched. I would certainly not recommend using devices with those OSes. Instead, use HTTPS on a more modern and secure OS.

Thank you for your answer. You are right. But I am doing a new project to evaluate old phones. For example, using it as a character LCD with Arduino. Or, using the mobile phone's sensors with a command. For Arduino, think of it as not getting ESP8266 or esp32, not getting RTC. These old phones will not connect to the sim card. Or, on the internet, it won't connect anywhere. Vulnerability won't be an issue. On the ESP8266 too, the https plugin is very difficult. Generally, the connection is made via http. I just wanted old phones to be used for this project. This will include cloud systems working with http.

You can take a look at my project as an example. Youtube video is a project to evaluate old phones.

If HTTPS is too challenging for your application, I would recommend secure MQTT connections. There are libraries that make it trivial to use MQTT over TLS with ThingSpeak's MQTT interface. See this example as a starting point.

ThingSpeak offers the ability for HTTP connections which you may still choose to use for proof of concept or early design validation having understood the dangers of using HTTP. I would strongly not recommend insecure, plain vanilla HTTP connections.

We have recently upgraded our system requirements to requireTLS 1.2. See the system requirements for additional details.
